Aldi makes you rent the cart for a quarter and bag your own groceries. It stocks fewer than 2,000 items. A Walmart carries over 100,000. It is also the third-largest grocery chain in the country, priced 15 to 20 percent below everyone else, and Walmart knows exactly how it works and still cannot copy it. There is a name for that. Many operators have never heard it.
