In December 2021, eighteen people sat in a room and wrote down where interest rates would be a year later. The highest guess on the entire committee was 1.125%. It ended the year at 4.375%. These are the people who set the rate. I went looking for how often the pros get this right. Then I found the part that made me uncomfortable, which is my own model.
